Introduction
Revisit keeps a private record of places you have been, places you want to go, and why they are worth it. That record stays on your iPhone. The developer does not collect it, cannot see it, and there is no server for it to go to.
Revisit has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no cloud sync. It makes no network requests of its own and looks nothing up online — no maps, no place search, no address lookup. The only thing it communicates with is the App Store, to sell and verify the one-time in-app purchase and to pass on a rating if you choose to leave one.
Information We Do Not Collect
This app does not collect personal information from users. Specifically, the developer does not collect:
- Name, email address, phone number, or physical address
- Contact list or address book data
- Your photo library. Photos are chosen in Apple's system picker, which runs outside the app, so Revisit only ever receives the specific images you hand it
- Location data. If you choose to use Nearby or "I'm here now", your iPhone gives Revisit your position for that one moment; it is used on the device and never sent to the developer or anyone else (see App Permissions)
- Financial account information or payment card information
- Advertising identifiers or device identifiers used for tracking
- Analytics, crash reports, or behavioral data
- User-created content stored on developer servers
What Revisit Stores on Your Device
Revisit stores the following on your device only: place names and categories, whether you have been to a place or want to go, your "why go back" line, your notes, the address or location text you type, a place's coordinates if it was shared from a maps app or saved with "I'm here now", the maps link it was shared with, the lists you create, the date of each visit, notes and ratings attached to individual visits, photos you attach to a visit, reminder settings, and app preferences such as sorting and whether the app lock is enabled. This data is written to your device's own storage, which iOS encrypts. None of it is transmitted to the developer or to any external server.
App Permissions
Revisit is designed around asking for as little as possible. It requests at most three permissions, each only at the moment you use the feature that needs it, and every part of the app that does not need a permission keeps working if you decline:
- Notifications — requested only when you set your first reminder. Reminders are scheduled and delivered by your iPhone; nothing about the place is transmitted anywhere. Declining does not affect anything else in the app.
- Location, "While Using the App" only — requested only the first time you tap Nearby or "I'm here now". Revisit reads your position once, on the device. For Nearby it sorts your saved places by distance and forgets your position when you leave that screen; for "I'm here now" it stores the coordinates with that one place, because you asked it to. Revisit never tracks your location in the background, never monitors regions, and never sends a position anywhere.
- Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode — requested only if you turn on the optional app lock yourself. Authentication is performed by iOS; Revisit is told only whether it succeeded, and never receives biometric data.
Revisit never requests access to your photo library, your contacts, your calendar, the camera, or the microphone, and never asks for location "Always".
Widgets
If you add a Revisit widget, the app writes a small file into a shared container on your device so the widget can read it. That file contains only place names, a symbol name, and two dates. Your notes, ratings and photos are never written to it. The file never leaves your device.
Sharing from Maps, Opening in Maps, Search and Siri
Share sheet. When you share a place from Apple Maps, Google Maps or another app to Revisit, the share extension reads what that app handed over — a name, an address, coordinates if present, and the link — on your device. It does not open the link or look anything up. The place waits in a small file in the app's shared container on your device until Revisit next opens, which then saves it and deletes the file.
Open in Maps. If you tap "Open in Maps", Revisit asks iOS to open the place in the Maps app (or the maps link you shared it with). What the Maps app does with that request is covered by its own privacy policy; Revisit itself sends nothing.
Google Maps import. If you import a Google Takeout file, Revisit reads it on your device. Links in the file are stored as text and are not opened.
Spotlight. Place names, categories and your "why go back" line are added to your iPhone's on-device search index so you can find them from the Home Screen. Notes, photos and positions are never indexed. While the app lock is on, Revisit removes everything it has indexed.
Siri and Shortcuts. Revisit's shortcuts run on your iPhone and read or write only the app's own data.
Backups
Your iPhone's own encrypted backup includes Revisit's data, so moving to a new phone brings your archive with it. You can also create a backup file from within the app. That file is created on your device and goes only where you choose to send it — Revisit does not upload it anywhere.
Payments and Purchases
Revisit is free to use and offers one optional, one-time in-app purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. The developer does not receive, process, or store your payment card information. Apple informs the app only whether a valid purchase exists.
Third-Party Services
This app does not integrate third-party analytics services, advertising networks, tracking SDKs, or any third-party code. It uses Apple platform features only — local notifications, local authentication, Core Location (on request, while in use), the system photo picker, the share sheet, on-device Spotlight indexing, App Intents, WidgetKit and StoreKit — and none of these are used for tracking or profiling.
Data Sharing
The developer does not sell, trade, rent, or share user data with third parties. There is no developer-side database of user-created content. Your information stays on your device.
Data Deletion
You can delete individual places and visits inside the app, remove everything at once with "Delete all data" in Settings, or delete the app from your device. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data associated with it, including any photos you attached.
Children's Privacy
This app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children or from any user, as it does not collect personal information at all.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This privacy policy may be updated if the app's features change in a way that affects how information is handled. When updated, the revised policy will be posted on this page with a new date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
