Introduction

Again remembers what you thought of the things you choose — a dish, a drink, a grocery or beauty product — so the next time you are at the menu or the shelf you know whether to have it again. The app works without accounts, tracking, analytics, advertising or any developer-side storage. Your taste stays on your phone: everything you create stays on your iPhone.

Information We Do Not Collect

The developer does not collect any information about you. Specifically, the developer does not receive:

  • Your entries, verdicts, notes, photos, places or any other content you create
  • Name, email address, phone number or physical address
  • Contacts or address book data
  • Precise or approximate location — the app never asks for location access
  • Payment card or financial account information
  • Advertising identifiers or device identifiers used for tracking
  • Analytics, usage or crash data from inside the app

Information Stored on Your Device

Again stores the following only on your iPhone, in the app's private storage:

  • Your entries: what you had, your verdict (Again, Maybe or Not Again), an optional score, category, drink type and tasting notes, reasons, a "next time" tip, notes, whether it is a favorite or "my usual", the barcode you linked to it, dates, and the history of your verdicts
  • Places you add to entries: the name, and the address and map coordinates of the Apple Maps result you picked
  • Photos you add to entries, saved as JPEG images of up to 2048 pixels
  • App settings

None of this is transmitted to the developer or to any server operated by the developer.

Widgets and the share extension. So that Again's Home Screen widgets can show your favorites, the things to avoid or your usuals, the app writes a short list (titles, verdicts, scores and place names of up to six entries per list) to a private container on your iPhone that only Again and its own widgets and share extension can read. When you add something to Again from another app's share sheet, what you shared (the text, the web link or a reduced copy of the image) is placed in the same private container until Again saves it as an entry, and is then removed. None of this leaves your iPhone.

Barcode and Label Scanning

When you tap Scan, the app uses Apple's on-device VisionKit and Vision frameworks to read a barcode or the text on a label or menu and look it up in your own entries. The camera is used only while the scanner is open. When a barcode is read, the app may take one still image of the label to suggest the product's name; that image is processed on your iPhone and discarded, unless you choose to keep it as a photo on the entry. Camera images are not added to your photo library and are never sent anywhere. Barcodes, labels and menus are matched only against your own entries; the app does not use any online product database.

Place Search

When you search for a place to add to an entry, the text you type is sent to Apple Maps (MapKit) to find matching places. This happens only while you search. The app does not access your location. Apple's handling of map searches is described in Apple's privacy policy.

iPhone Search, Siri and Shortcuts

To let you find a verdict from iPhone Search, the app adds your entries to the Spotlight index on your iPhone. This index stays on the device; you can turn it off in Settings → Search, which removes it. If you ask Siri or use a Shortcut to check a verdict, the app looks up the answer on your iPhone; your request to Siri is handled by Apple under Apple's terms.

Backups, Exports and Sharing

You can create a backup file of your data and choose where to save or send it (for example Files, iCloud Drive or AirDrop), and restore it later. You can also import ratings from a spreadsheet (CSV) file you pick; the file is read on your iPhone. Share cards for a verdict are created on your iPhone and are shared only when you choose to share them. Where these files go after you share them is up to you.

App Permissions

  • Camera — requested only the first time you tap Scan, used only while scanning.
  • Photos — the app uses the system photo picker, which gives the app only the photos you pick. The app never asks for access to your whole library.

The app does not request location, contacts, microphone, notifications or tracking permission.

Payments and Purchases

Again Premium is a one-time purchase processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. The developer does not receive, process or store your payment information.

Third-Party Services

The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code. It uses only Apple platform services: StoreKit for purchases, MapKit for place search, and on-device frameworks for scanning, widgets, Spotlight and Siri.

Data Sharing

The developer does not sell, trade, rent or share any data, because the developer does not have any.

Data Deletion

You can delete any entry inside the app, delete everything at once in Settings → Delete All Data, or delete the app. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your iPhone, including photos and its iPhone Search index. Backup files you saved elsewhere are not affected.

Children's Privacy

The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This policy will be updated if the app changes in a way that affects how information is handled. The revised policy will be posted on this page with a new date.
