Introduction
Left. shows you one number: what you can still spend today. Working that out needs your money and your spending, and none of it leaves your iPhone. There is no server for it to go to, no account to sign in to, and nothing that watches what you do.
What Left. Stores
Your budgets and their dates, everything you log as spent, money you add during a budget, the categories you use, and — if you set up a paycheck plan — your pay, your bills and your savings amounts. Alongside that: your settings, your quick-add buttons, your favourites, and which budget is open.
All of it is written to your device's own storage, which iOS encrypts. The app and its widget share one private container on the device so the Lock Screen can show the same number the app does; nothing in that container is reachable by any other app.
What Leaves Your Device
Nothing, except a file you export yourself. Left. makes no network requests at all: no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no account system, and no cloud sync. The app contains no third-party SDKs.
Two features write a file, and only when you ask for one:
- Backups. Left. can write an encrypted backup of your data. The file is sealed with a passphrase you choose, using AES-GCM with a key stretched from that passphrase. Nobody — including the developer — can open it without the passphrase, and it cannot be recovered if you forget it. You choose where the file goes with the system's own file picker. If you choose a cloud location such as iCloud Drive, the encrypted file is stored there under your own account, by your choice.
- CSV export and the share card. You can export a budget's expenses as a plain CSV, and share a card showing how a budget went. Both go wherever you send them using the system share sheet. The share card never contains your income.
Purchases
Left. Premium is a single purchase, handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. The developer never sees or stores your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether a purchase exists. There is no subscription.
Permissions
- Face ID, Touch ID or passcode, only if you turn on Left.'s lock. The check is performed by iOS; Left. is told only whether it succeeded, and never receives your biometric data.
- Notifications, only if you allow them. Reminders are scheduled on your device by iOS and contain only your own figures. No notification is sent from a server, because there is no server.
Left. does not ask for, and cannot access, your contacts, photos, location, microphone, camera, calendar or health data. It does not connect to banks or payment processors, and never asks for account credentials or card numbers — every figure in the app is one you typed yourself.
Siri, Shortcuts and Widgets
Left. offers Siri phrases, Shortcuts actions, and Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. These run on your device through Apple's own frameworks. What Siri does with the words you speak is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your own Siri settings; Left. receives only the resulting request and answers it from the data already on your device. With the lock turned on, Left. will not read out or change anything until the app has been unlocked.
Analytics, Tracking and Advertising
There are none. Left. collects no usage data, uses no advertising or device identifiers, and is not used to track you across apps or websites.
Data Sharing
The developer does not sell, trade, rent or share your data, because the developer never receives it. There is no developer-side database of anything you create in Left.
Data Deletion
You can delete individual expenses and budgets inside the app, erase everything from Settings, or delete the app. Deleting the app removes all of its local data, including the container it shares with its widget. Any backup file you exported yourself stays where you put it until you delete it.
Children's Privacy
Left. collects no personal information from anyone, children included, and transmits nothing to the developer.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
If a future version of Left. changes how information is handled, this page is updated with a new date before that version ships.
